Organised by Teges-Szmeges, the dynamic duo of contemporary Polish performance poetry, the anti-slam promises to be a disgustingly funny showcase of the worst spoken word Poland has to offer. The event invites poets to present the poorest, shoddiest, most substandard excuses for poems they can come up with to an audience armed with crumpled paper and really bad taste. The theme, this time around, is space; as the organisers say, setting the tone, this is a unique opportunity to become “the Chewbacca of poetry”!

In a rare  flashback to the early days of the Polish slam scene, I will be hosting the monthly Warsaw Poetry Slam. Expect an exciting show with an array of poets in all shapes and sizes wooing a demanding audience. Who knows, this time around, we might finally find an answer to the ever-present question: is this still poetry?

A Smoke and Mirrors show with Dominique Macri, Paula Varjack, and Ludwig Berger, celebrating the 7th anniversary of poetry slam in Poland.
There will also be an open slam on the night – sign up at the door or via the Polish poetry slam portal.
Tickets – 10 PLN
